On 24 February 2022, the lives of millions of people changed in an instant. Russia’s war in Ukraine pushed many relationships into the virtual sphere. For countless people, the telephone became the only link to their loved ones – a mother, a grandmother, or a friend.
The audio series Calls features genuine conversations between real people living the daily reality of war. Whether they are thousands of kilometres apart or on opposite sides of the same city, hearing a voice on the other end of the line – or receiving a reply to a text message – has become their greatest wish.
